Strawberry shortcake smoothie in a mason jar garnished with a strawberry and straw.

Not too far from my home there's a strawberry farm that every spring sells delicious strawberry shortcakes and strawberry milkshakes using berries picked fresh from their fields.

One of my favorite childhood memories was going to the farm to get milkshakes after church.

It's those memories that inspired me to recreate their traditional strawberry milkshake into a dairy free strawberry smoothie recipe!

Two mason jars filled with smoothie.

    Ingredients

This easy, dairy free strawberry smoothie recipe is just five simple ingredients!

    • strawberries, frozen
    • banana, frozen
    • canned coconut milk
    • honey
    • vanilla extract

Fresh or frozen bananas can be used, but if using fresh, then add a cup of ice to the blender.

Full fat canned coconut milk is preferred since it adds a bit of creaminess to the smoothie!

Depending on the sweetness of the strawberries, you may not need to add honey to the smoothie.

How to make a dairy free strawberry smoothie

Blend all ingredients together until smooth and creamy...so simple!

If using fresh strawberries and bananas, add a cup of ice to the blender and blend again until smooth.

I topped my strawberry shortcake smoothie with Whipped Coconut Cream for more of a milkshake feel!

Quick question. Coconut milk. Anything specific we should use? Standard canned coconut milk contains sugar.
Or do we buy sugar free? Some canned coconut milk is thick, like coconut Lopez, which contains sugar also ? Which do you recommend?

When it comes to canned coconut milk, I highly recommend Native Forest Simple Coconut Milk. It is only 2 ingredients, coconut and water, and tastes delicious! I purchase mine from Amazon but I think Thrive Market also sells it.
